To all of you who attended our Midsummer event of June 21, a big Thank You!
Close to 350 people came to participate and contribute to our “maiden voyage”, regardless of the scorching heat. We take our hats off to you all!
The net proceeds will be distributed to the Kiwanis on September 28, 2008 at Hansen Dam Equestrian Center during the “Equestrian Competition for Special Athletes”. Special Spirit will have 3-4 autistic riders in this event! Please feel free to come and volunteer or support, and see what your contributions helped create.
The food tent, a popular attraction, donated by HOWS Food Market was greatly appreciated by all. Thank You! to The Hughes Family for their contribution.
The auction another popular attraction, with fantastic items to bid on, made possible by all our generous contributors & sponsors. The saddle, donated to us from David Kaden owner of Specialized Saddles went to Sharon at “Rise and Shine Restaurant”, where she keeps it on display.
The equestrian entertainment started with a jumping demonstration, followed by a heart-warming presentation by able and disabled children of The Valley View Vaulters. Closing the equestrian entertainment was War Horse Foundation; they executed their military maneuvers in authentic British/Indian Colonial Cavalry uniforms from 1880. What a spectacular sight!
Our celebrity rocker/polo player, Fee Waybill, of the Tubes, rocked the house down with support from Candice Devine and a great band put together for this occasion, followed by country/blues artist Ashley Caldwell and her band. HA! Helen & Alex Wright performed between the equestrian act.
Nate Stein and Madeleine Falk performed on stilts and did an exciting juggling act.
We look forward to see you all again next year for a bigger and even better fundraiser!
Thank you all from - Eva Lund - Mary K Hughes - Paul Reynolds
